About Me

Sallie has been a practicing artist for over thirty years.  She began her art studies while living in Savannah, Georgia. There she studied with John Jensen at Armstrong State College and with Bill Hendrix at The Coastal Center for the arts on St. Simons Island.

In 1995 she moved to New York and for seven years continued her studies at The Art Students League where she became a member and received several awards for her work.  Among the teachers with whom she had the privilege of studying are Andrew Lukach, Ric Del Rossi, Daniel Dickerson, Knox Martin and Catherine Redmond. She also studied with Wolf Kahn at The National Academy in NYC.  In addition to the influences of these great teachers, Sallie had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Europe and Asia where she was exposed to artists and art masterpieces from around the world.  All of this has helped to shape her world view which influences her work today.  She now resides on Edisto Island in South Carolina.

Among the galleries where her paintings have been exhibited are Edward Hopper House Art Center in Nyack, NY; The Art Alliance in Red Bank, NJ; The Belskie Museum in Closter, NJ; The Vytlacil House in Sparkill, NY; Art School of Northern Jersey in New Milford; and The Art Students League in NYC.

She has recently begun to extend her art into ceramics where she has a strong interest in sculpture and eclectic expressions in different clay forms.
